NASTaP members have made several trips to one of the most sacred places in the Southwest: Chaco Culture National Historical Park in central New Mexico. This hallowed ground is the seat of history, spirituality and culture going back thousands of years to the time of the ancient Puebloan and Uto-Aztecan peoples. About 200 years ago, colonizers moved in and desecrated the artifacts and human remains. Now, mining interests want to remove the zone of protection so they can build roads, scrape away coal and extract ores.
